Mitchell Barnard • Front Ens. Caption Head

Mitchell Barnard is a musician and educator who currently resides in Ogden, Utah. Mr. Barnard is the Percussion Director at the Davis High School, Battery Caption Head at Weber State University, Battery Instructor for the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps. Under his direction since the winter of 2010, Davis’ Indoor Drumline has won six straight Intermountain Percussion Association Championships. Mr. Barnard also serves on the Board of Directors for the Intermountain Percussion Association.

Over the years, Mr. Barnard has marched for many ensembles including the Utah Jazz Drumline, Junction City Hybrid Indoor Drumline, University of Utah Drumline, where he served as Section Leader, Weber State Indoor Percussion, the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. During this time, he had the privilege of studying under such educators as David Reeves, Kevin Welborn, Matt Little, Chris Grant, Nick Molenda, Derek Fields, and many others.

Over the years, Mitch has instructed numerous ensembles around northern Utah and was a Battery Instructor for the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps. He has also served as guest clinician for several area percussion ensembles and was the Battery Percussion Clinician for the 2012 Utah Music Educator’s Association Summer Marching Band Clinic.

Mr. Barnard is also an active arranger. He has arranged percussion for groups all over Utah including the University of Utah, Weber State University, and Utah Valley University Drumlines. Mr. Barnard is a professional arranger of indoor percussion shows and is the Percussion Designer for the Davis High School Marching Band and Indoor Percussion Ensemble.

Julia Coleman • Asst. Front Ens. Caption Head

Originally from Erie, PA, Julia has been involved in the marching arts since 1998. Julia was classically trained in piano from a very young age, has played euphonium for 20 years, and has taught percussion for over a decade. Julia has performed with several marching groups across the country including Phantom Regiment of Rockford, IL, Empire Statesmen and Rochester Crusaders of Rochester, NY, White Sabers of Dansville, NY, and Presque Isle Percussion of Erie, PA.

Julia has most recently served as the Front Ensemble Caption Head for Weber State Indoor Percussion and Riverton High School. She has been teaching and arranging for bands and front ensembles in the states of Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Utah since 2006. Julia attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she played baritone in the Pitt Panther Marching Band and euphonium in the concert band. She has since graduated from Penn State with an Associates Degree in Nursing.

While not working as an nurse or entertaining her music hobby, Julia enjoys running and paddle boarding. Julia currently resides in Utah with her husband, Ed and their dog Murphy.

Allie Heninger • Instructor

Allie Heninger started her percussion career in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in early high school. She studied under Eric Kruse for 3 years, performing with the Pine Creek High School Marching Band and Indoor Percussion Group during her time there. Pine Creek traveled to WGI World Championships in 2014 where they earned 6th place in Scholastic Concert Open Class. Her last year of high school was spent studying under Max Meyer at Riverton High School in Utah, during which she performed with Weber State Indoor Percussion in their 2015 season.

Allie studied a year at the University of Northern Colorado under Gray Barrier, working towards a Music Education Bachelors emphasizing in percussion. During that time she served as the front ensemble section leader for Altitude Percussion in Colorado Springs, where they traveled to and competed in the 2016 WGI World Championships. Allie has since married and moved back to Utah to finish her Associate's degree.

Braden Combe • Instructor, Sound Technician

Braden Combe began his career in the marching arts as a member of the Bonneville High School Drumline back in the Spring of 2011, where he played Marching Bass for all three years, and later as a member of Weber State Indoor Percussion in the Fall of 2011, where he began as a synthesizer player his first season, and a vibraphone player for his second. During his senior year, he became a founding member of a budding high school level IMPA group, Weber County Indoor Percussion, where he played Bass and became a section leader. Upon entering Weber State University as a full-time student in 2014, Braden has continually performed in many of the University's various performance ensembles, including the Wildcat Marching Band, first as a Bass player and now currently as a Drum Major, the New Millenium Wind Ensemble, and the WSU Percussion Ensemble. Braden also rejoined Weber State Indoor Percussion in 2014, where he played Bass for one season, and then returned to his roots to play synthesizer for the next three seasons. The 2017-18 season marked his last as a WGI performer, having reached the age limit after a 7 year run.

Since the summer of 2015 Braden has taught at Bonneville High School, his Alma Mater, where he currently serves as the Battery Caption Head. At Weber State University, he is currently planning on pursuing a degree in Archaeological Studies, with a minor in Music. In his free time, he loves to play the piano, listen to Classic 80's music, play Classic 80's music on the piano, and play World of Warcraft.
